Stroke Association

Stroke strikes every five minutes in the UK. It can happen to anyone, of any age, at any time.

About Us

Stroke is a medical emergency. It changes lives in an instant, and the impact can be devastating. It can cost people their ability to move, communicate and lead their everyday lives.

Kelly was unable to say her own name for three years after her strokes, but with speech and language therapy and support she's living life well again.

40% of stroke survivors have aphasia due to a stroke. We can only continue to provide support to them and their families with your help.

We are the UK's largest charity dedicated to helping stroke survivors and their families receive the emotional and practical support they need.

We fund research into ongoing rehabilitation that could help stroke survivors live fuller, happier lives. And we provide specialist support and campaign to make sure people affected by stroke get the very best care.

We believe everyone deserves to live the best life they can after stroke.

Aphasia might take away someone’s words. But your support would help make sure it won’t take away who they are.

Your donations will help to fund vital work – such as the Stroke Helpline, research projects and support groups – and help stroke survivors and their families rebuild their lives.
